Both struck a chord with locals, so both became part of the collection.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eFirst opened in 1938 as a grand single-screen cinema, the Sun has watched Yarraville change through generations, from the arrival of television and its years as a Greek cinema to a long period of disrepair before new owners rescued it and transformed it into the much-loved eight-screen cinema it is today.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eBut the Sun's story isn't simply about a building that survived. Out front, the grassy village green has become Yarraville's shared lounge room, where locals meet, kids play, friends catch up and people just stop for a while.
