Geelong Ferris Wheel (Giant Sky Wheel) Suburban Icon Poster

In 2005, the Giant Sky Wheel rolled into town, a gleaming, European-built Ferris wheel that still towers over the Geelong foreshore like a slow-moving guardian of the bay, gently spinning locals, tourists, and the occasional seagull enthusiast toward the clouds.

But it wasn’t the first to do so. Before the Sky Wheel, there was Hi-Lite Park, an amusement park that lit up Geelong’s Eastern Beach from 1956 until somewhere in the hazy, Kodachrome-tinted 1980s. Dreamed up by Emile Verfurth, Hi-Lite Park was Geelong’s answer to Melbourne’s Luna Park. It had dodgems, a carousel, a Ferris wheel, and just enough danger to feel like fun. Kids got dizzy, parents got fleeced, and everyone went home a little sunburnt and slightly stickier than when they arrived.

By the 1990s, Hi-Lite Park was gone, swept away by a wave of urban redevelopment and “family-friendly” planning. The Giant Sky Wheel now stands almost exactly where Hi-Lite once did, like a reincarnated ride on the seaside.

Step onto the Sky Wheel at sunset and you’ll see it: the glittering water, the carnival lights, the ghosts of dodgem cars past, and maybe, just maybe, a trace of Emile Verfurth’s old dream, still spinning quietly in the sea breeze.

All orders are dispatched within 2 to 3 business days via Australia Post with full tracking.

A4 and A3 prints are sent flat in a rigid box mailer. A2 and A1 prints are rolled in protective paper and dispatched in a heavy-duty postal tube.

You'll receive an order confirmation email when your purchase is complete, followed by a tracking notification once your order is lodged with Australia Post.

Delivery times vary depending on your location. Once an order has been dispatched with a tracking number it cannot be redirected, cancelled or refunded due to delays outside our control.

If your order arrives damaged or is confirmed lost in transit by Australia Post, we will lodge an insurance claim and arrange a replacement. Just get in touch and we'll sort it out.

Please note our responsibility ends once Australia Post confirms successful delivery. We are unable to replace items that are lost, stolen or misplaced after delivery has been completed and photographically confirmed by the carrier.

We want you to love your artwork. As every poster is printed to order, our policy varies by size.

Damaged in transit — contact us within 48 hours of delivery with photos of the damage and packaging. We'll arrange a replacement immediately at no cost.

Change of mind — A4 & A3 — we're happy to offer an exchange or store credit within 14 days of delivery. Print must be returned in original sealed packaging. Return shipping is at your expense.

Change of mind — A2 & A1 — we don't accept returns or exchanges on large format prints. Please measure your space carefully before ordering.

Cancellations — contact us within 24 hours of placing your order. If printing has already begun we may not be able to cancel.
