Split Point Lighthouse Aireys Inlet Suburban Icon Poster

Have you ever, ever felt like this?
Have strange things happened,
Are you going 'round the twist?

Perched in the idyllic Aireys Inlet, nestled amidst the breathtaking scenery of the Great Ocean Road, Split Point Lighthouse reaches skyward with its 34-metre tower crowned by a distinctive red cap. Known fondly by locals as ‘The White Queen’ for its pristine white façade, this lighthouse has stood as an unmanned sentinel since 1919. Originally christened Eagles Nest Point when it was built in 1891, it played a vital role in guiding ships through the perilous waters of the Shipwreck Coast.

Today, Split Point Lighthouse is celebrated not only for its maritime legacy but also as the star of the quirky Australian TV series ‘Round the Twist’. This iconic landmark remains a must-see, standing tall and proud against the rugged coastline, where countless ships met their fate. Though history may have its twists and turns, the lighthouse continues to shine, its beam still a crucial guide for vessels braving the treacherous Bass Strait.
