Sun Theatre Yarraville Suburban Icon Vintage Classic Travel Poster

The Sun Theatre has been a landmark of Yarraville since 1938, and this Classic Travel Poster version celebrates the building through the bold visual language of the era in which it was born.

The Sun Theatre was where the Suburban Icons story began, the very first Suburban Icon we created. Mark Macdonald's original vision took two distinct forms: the hand-lettered Yarraville version drew inspiration from the mural overlooking the Woolworths Metro car park, while the strong typography of classic 1930s and 1940s travel posters felt almost made for the Sun's Art Deco architecture. Both struck a chord with locals, so both became part of the collection.

First opened in 1938 as a grand single-screen cinema, the Sun has watched Yarraville change through generations, from the arrival of television and its years as a Greek cinema to a long period of disrepair before new owners rescued it and transformed it into the much-loved eight-screen cinema it is today.

But the Sun's story isn't simply about a building that survived. Out front, the grassy village green has become Yarraville's shared lounge room, where locals meet, kids play, friends catch up and people just stop for a while. The Sun sits behind it all, an ever-present backdrop to everyday village life.

This Classic edition puts that Art Deco architecture and vintage travel-poster influence front and centre. Bold typography, simplified shapes and strong architectural lines give the artwork the feel of a classic poster from the golden age of Australian travel.

All orders are dispatched within 2 to 3 business days via Australia Post with full tracking.

A4 and A3 prints are sent flat in a rigid box mailer. A2 and A1 prints are rolled in protective paper and dispatched in a heavy-duty postal tube.

You'll receive an order confirmation email when your purchase is complete, followed by a tracking notification once your order is lodged with Australia Post.

Delivery times vary depending on your location. Once an order has been dispatched with a tracking number it cannot be redirected, cancelled or refunded due to delays outside our control.

If your order arrives damaged or is confirmed lost in transit by Australia Post, we will lodge an insurance claim and arrange a replacement. Just get in touch and we'll sort it out.

Please note our responsibility ends once Australia Post confirms successful delivery. We are unable to replace items that are lost, stolen or misplaced after delivery has been completed and photographically confirmed by the carrier.

We want you to love your artwork. As every poster is printed to order, our policy varies by size.

Damaged in transit — contact us within 48 hours of delivery with photos of the damage and packaging. We'll arrange a replacement immediately at no cost.

Change of mind — A4 & A3 — we're happy to offer an exchange or store credit within 14 days of delivery. Print must be returned in original sealed packaging. Return shipping is at your expense.

Change of mind — A2 & A1 — we don't accept returns or exchanges on large format prints. Please measure your space carefully before ordering.

Cancellations — contact us within 24 hours of placing your order. If printing has already begun we may not be able to cancel.
